 05 Days: Luang Prabang-Vientiane

Day 01          ARRIVAL – LUANG PRABANG                                                         [-/-/-]

Arrive at Luang Prabang Airport, you will meet a local guide at the exit after immigration and your luggage collected and you will be transferred by private car to your hotel for check in. (Official check in at 14.00 pm)

Day 02          LUANG PRABANG – PAKOUCAVE CITY TOUR                                   [B/L/-]

Breakfast at your hotel. Start your visit the Royal Palace Museum housing the most important treasures of Laos’ recent past. Then continue Visit Wat Mai with its five tiered roof and exquisitely carved veranda. Transfer to local pier to embark on a traditional boat and go upstream on the Mekong River to visit the sacred Buddha caves. Visit Tham Ting and Tham Phoum caves housing hundreds of Buddha statues.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

Return to Luang Prabang by boat. On the way back stop at Ban Xang Khong handmade paper village and climb up to Phousi hill for a view over the city, its surroundings and the Mekong River Drop in the old city for a walk or shop at a Hmong market, and transfer to your hotel.

Option: Foodie tour :

The tour starts at 18:00. Your guide will pick you up at your hotel (or your meeting point of choice).

Your first stop will be at the absolutely delicious savory Vietnamese crepes with eggs stall, just on the Mekong riverbanks. The little stall/hole in the wall is well hidden from the untrained eye. Although very much loved by the locals, this place is hardly visited by tourists, since it is not featured in any guides.

Continue to the night market for a short stroll through the food alley. Here you will sample the specialty dishes of Luang Prabang: fried dry mushrooms, Luang Prabang sausage, savory coconut dumplings and papaya salad (choice of 1 soft drink or 1 local beer to go with the snacks).

Now for dinner, head back to the Mekong Riverbanks and cross the bamboo bridge on foot to reach a DIY grilling restaurant.

The concept of DIY grilling in Laos is very popular among locals. It is a bit like Korean BBQ but with more vegetables, a grilling plate placed just above a small fire pit and a broth in which you can boil vegetable and eggs. The meat is served sliced and you just have to grill it by yourself.

Enjoy some local fruits for desserts.

Transfer back to your hotel or in town after dinner, around 21:00.

Day 03          LUANG PRABANG – KUANGSI- CITYTOUR                                         [B/L/-]

06.00 Watch Takbat, the monks’ rounds, early in the morning. It is a ritual that is truly part of Lao people’s life and offers a memorable experience and great snapshots. Your guide will explain how to follow the strict customs and rules involved and visit fresh local market. Return to your hotel for breakfast

Picked up from your hotel to visit Visit Wat Xieng Thong, the most beautiful temples of Luang Prabang dating back from 16th century and visit Ock Pop Tok (nice weaving work shop) before leaving the town to Kuangsi waterfall 32 kms to the west of Luang Prabang. On the way, you may visit the Hmong village Ban Na Ouane.

Upon arrival the waterfall. lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, take a short walk through the forest, you will see the rescued beers, the waterfall.  Enjoying the scenery, and then you may choose to take a swim in one of the nearby clear pools.

Return to the town, on the way you may stop at Lao Buffalo Dairy farm, where you could feed and play with animals, transfer to your hotel. 

Option: Sunset cruise: 

Depart at the start of dusk for an all-inclusive sunset cruise to celebrate another day’s colourful finale. Enjoy the Mekong’s breath taking landscape while witnessing the daily activities along the rivers’ edge as the local people prepare for nightfall.

Take-in the panoramic views - oranges, reds, pinks, and purples of the changing sky as the sun sinks behind the mountains.

Relax and enjoy the luxury of iMekong. Sample traditional Lao canapés and sip a cold Beer Lao or refreshing glass of wine.(Non-alcoholic beverages including: juice, mock- tails, soft drink or sparkling mineral water are also available.)

The iMekong feature an onboard sound system and you are free to play your own tunes. Enjoy a more upbeat sunset soundtrack or contemplate the peace and calm of the Mekong. Up to you as they say in Laos!

Day 04          LUANG PRABANG-VIENTIANE                                                        [B/L/-]

Early breakfast in box. Today you will be  picked up from your hotel early to morning flight to Vientiane by QV112@0740-0825 Upon arrival in Vientiane airport, you will meet a local guide at the exit after immigration and your luggage collected and you will be transferred by private car to the town to visit Wat Sisaket, the oldest monastery in Vientiane, built in 1818. Continue to nearby Ho Phrakeo, the former Royal temple, now a Museum of buddhist art and sculpture.

Lunch at a local restaurant and then you will be transferred to your hotel for check in.

In the afternoon, visit the COPE center and then That Luang with its golden stupa in the characteristic banana flower shape – it is the most revered shrine in Laos. Stop at Patouxay (the Victory Monument) for a view of the city. Return to  hotel.

Day 05          VIENTIANE - DEPARTURE                                                              [B/-/-]

Breakfast at your hotel. Free at leisure until you will be transfer to the airport for your flight departure.
